Revolutionary times in Canada
There’s a revolution happening right here in Canada and it’s going on right now!
Inspired by the recent Jasmine revolutions that removed leaders in the middle-east, the Beaver Revolution’s Facebook page has grown to over 400 strong in just under a week.
The Beaver revolution is non-partisan, but has one common belief that Stephen Harper must not be returned to lead our country. While other countries fight their revolutions with blood, bullets and violence, the Beaver Revolution wants to fight voter apathy with humour. The goal is to challenge voters and especially younger voters to get involved and change the game by using social media.
“We are all about positivity. Let’s make this fun, embrace our inner “hoser” and celebrate being uniquely Canadian”, said Johnny Canuck, Facebook page creator. ”I’m asking everyone to join the Facebook page and help us get the word out and make this go viral.”
In the last election Stephen Harper and his Conservative won 33 ridings across Canada with a margin of less than five per cent of the vote. The Beaver Revolution can achieve its goal if it can convince an extra 10 per cent of the population to show up to vote on May 2nd.
